What we do with your information.
Couchlayer stores the account and the files you upload so it can build and show your floor plans. This page says what that includes. The terms cover plans, billing, and acceptable use.
Information you give us
- Account details: your name, email, and, if you use a password, the credential for that account.
- Google sign-in: if you choose it, Google shares your name, email, and profile photo. A first Google sign-in creates a separate account and does not open one made with a password.
- Files: floor plans, plan images, photos, furniture models, and the notes you send when you ask for a build, a fix, or an arrangement.
- Billing: the plan you choose. Stripe stores and charges the card. Couchlayer stores a customer id and a subscription id, not the card number.
Information collected automatically
The servers that host Couchlayer log the usual request data, including IP address, browser, and the page requested, to run and protect the site.
On the live site, PostHog can record which pages are opened and a session, with anything typed into a field masked. Those recordings are not attached to your name. Outside the EU, the UK, and the EEA this starts with the page. In the EU, the UK, and the EEA it starts only if you accept the notice, and it does not start if you decline.
Couchlayer does not ask your device for GPS location.
How we use it
We use this information to run your account, build and show floor plans, count plan usage, take payment, answer support, and send account email. We do not sell personal information.
Who else handles it
- Convex stores the account, plan, and related records.
- Amazon Web Services stores uploaded and generated files.
- OpenAI receives the floor plans, photos, and notes needed to build a model or an arrangement. Under OpenAI’s API terms, that content is not used to train OpenAI’s models unless the account opts in. Couchlayer does not opt in. OpenAI may keep it for about 30 days to check for abuse. A fix or a later arrangement step continues an earlier request, and OpenAI stores that continuation for at least 30 days so the next step can use it. Couchlayer does not use OpenAI’s zero-data-retention option.
- Stripe processes payment.
- Google handles Google sign-in, if you use it.
- Resend sends account email.
- PostHog receives the analytics and masked recordings described above, on the live site.
- Vercel hosts the website.
These companies process that information to provide their part of the service. A link to a retailer leaves Couchlayer, and that site has its own policy.
Couchlayer is a United States service, not an EU company. Files and account data are processed in the United States.
How long we keep it
Account information and files stay while the account is open. Deleting a floor plan removes that plan and its files from the account. Deleting a furniture piece removes that piece. Billing records are kept as long as tax and accounting rules require.
You can delete the account from Account. That removes the sign-in, floor plans, photos, furniture, and the other files stored for it, and ends a paid plan at the same time. It does not by itself refund a payment. Stripe keeps invoices where accounting rules require them.
Creating an account can start emails about getting set up, checkout, and, if you cancel, coming back. We may also email you about other projects we run. Every one of those emails has an unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing stops those emails. It does not close the account or stop a receipt Stripe sends.
Children
Couchlayer is not made as a children’s product, and sign-up does not ask your age. If you tell us an account belongs to a child, we will delete it.
Your requests
Email us from the address on the account and you can ask for a copy of the personal information, a correction, or deletion. We do not sell personal information. Couchlayer is not an EU company and does not have an EU representative. If you write from the EU, the UK, or Switzerland, email us and we will still handle a request for access, correction, or deletion.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version is posted on this page with a new date.
